Faux Fur!

Disregarding the fur debate, lets discuss fur in the element of its fashion!  Everyone is a fake fur offender and when I say everyone, I mean EVERYONE (from Chanel to Forever 21)!  The thing that matters when discussing fur and fashion is the quality of the garment.  Faux fur allows everyone to experience and participate in the fashions of the fur look, even the PETA lovers!  Fur is a great look for winter and designers are now coming up with fur in every print and color imaginable.

Faux or not, you have to love fur!

Strap Up!

When it comes to fashion, sexuality is a never ending discussion.  Is that too much?  Is it too revealing? Is this appropriate or not?  In a design studio those questions are floating around constantly.  It just so happens that in the YSL, Hermés and Chloé design studio they had quite daring answers to those questions.  Leather harnesses are back and you better buckle up because they are fierce!  The bondage and fetish fashion is still afloat and it begins with the leather harness accessories.  Although these accessories are far from mainstream we no longer question it as strange or absurd.  Since this look is a bit risque it is best paired with something elegant.  Think maxi dress or high waisted pants, sophistication is key!  See how the designers do it!

Saddle Up!

Take The Plunge!

If you've got it...flaunt it!  The deep V neckline is coming back with power.  Fall 2011's Fashion Week showed us that this neckline ends somewhere between the breast bone and the naval (it's deep)!  This effortless look works best with a relaxed fit rather than a tight body defining one.  The best way to wear this look is without a bra.  Go ahead, go braless, I give you permission!  This way you have nice smooth and unbroken lines.  Another way you could wear the deep V is to wear undergarments that are loud and obvious (crazy prints, lace, cut outs etc.)!  If you are calling attention to the top half of your body it is best to even it out and be a bit more modest on the bottom half.  A perfect match would be a maxi skirt or a pair of wide leg pants.  Don't forget that this look can be worn in a casual and dressy way, you're the one in control!

Altered a bit, this look can be worn every season!

Hot Pants!

Bright colored pants are all the rage for Fall 2011 so get ready!  This trend is allowing girls to wear warm winter colors on top and have a little fun on the bottom.  There is no rule saying that you have to slip off into the dark color world as soon as the summer is over so add a bit of color fun to fall.  Have fun with this, take some chances!

Bright Fun!

Bring 'Em Up!

Fall 2011's Fashion Week revealed that high-waisted flare jeans are the next big denim trend.   I guess we are carrying on with the 70's, 80's and 90's fashion inspired styles.  Designers like Tory Burch, Anna Sui, Derek Lam and Jason Wu, all sent high-waisted flare jeans down their catwalks.  Although this style can and has been considered controversial to the fashion world, due to the fact that they are not always the most flattering cut, designers took the risk and threw it into their fall collections anyway.  If worn on the right body type this look can thrive (makes you appear taller and skinnier)!  Always make sure that the flare of the jean is draped over the top of the toe, we don't want anyone looking like they are preparing for a flood!  A fitted button down or a seamless camisole would be a perfect match with the classic high-waisted flare jean.

Try it out!

Trend report: Pajama-rama!

Don't forget your sleeping bag because this is an all day pajama party!  This sleepyhead look has taken off this past season and is soaring into the next.  This look has not only been spotted on the street but on the runway as well.  Slouchy pants, bagging tops, loose layers, kimonos and button up blouses are all perfect examples of the pajama trend.  Some designers headed down the purity road using light colored fabrics and others down a louder and more exciting road using floral designs and exotic prints.  This is quite a casual look but if paired with the proper accessories (belts and loud jewelry) it can be dressed up.  Take a look!

Sleep tight!

Crazy Kini's

Talk about cutting edge, Kristin Cavallari is sporting a glass-sharded monokini down the Diesel runway during Miami's swim week.  Diesel got their inspiration from blue SKYY Vodka bottles but they clearly had no intent for this baiting suit to be warn in the water!  Girls got guts!

Red Carter isn't afraid of a few tan lines.  It wasn't enough to have a five cutout one-piece, they had to add a four circle necklace and a pair of thigh high lace up sandals just to mix it up.  What a crazy catwalk!

Gotta love Mercedes Benz Fashion Week!

Designer of the Day: Jac Vanek

This young ruthless designer is full of life as well as extremely artistic ideas.  Jac Vanek is not only a designer but a painter, photographer, writer, movie director and a creator of fashion trends.  She gets most of her inspiration from the 90's grunge era, the armpit of fashion, instead of what she sees on the runway and in magazines.  To me, what makes this brand so interesting and unique is that it is a fusion of her personal artistic expression, along with the consciousness of what is going on during our generation.
